In-home ABA therapy for children with autism in NC, GA, MD

Let progress into your home

Apex ABA is bringing exceptional ABA therapy to the heart of your home.

What is In-Home ABA Therapy?

In-home ABA therapy is evidence-based behavioral treatment delivered in your child's natural environment—your home, during real routines and transitions. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst creates a personalized treatment plan. A Registered Behavior Technician implements therapy while you observe, participate, and learn the same strategies. Skills are built where they're used. Progress happens where it matters most.

How in-home therapy works

What to expect

We come to you

No stressful commutes across NC, GA, or MD. No parking lot battles. No overstimulating waiting rooms. Your therapist arrives at your door, and therapy happens where your child already feels safe.

Consistency matters

Your child works with the same therapist at every session. They build trust with someone who learns what motivates them, triggers them, and what helps them succeed.

You're part of this

You watch everything unfold, ask questions in real time and learn the strategies alongside your child, so progress continues long after our therapist leaves.

We work on your real day

We work on your actual routine. We don't practice pretend meals. We tackle the real dinner table, the real bath time, and the real moments that cause stress right now.

We handle all the insurance paperwork

Prior authorization. Benefit verification. Reauthorization requests. Claims. We manage every aspect, so you can focus entirely on your child.

Why your home is the best classroom

The real difference

Your child isn't performing for us in an unfamiliar clinic room. They're learning in their own space, surrounded by their toys, their routines, their family. They're more relaxed. More open. More ready to actually absorb what we're teaching.

In-home ABA brings our therapists into your world, tackling the real challenges you face every day. No commute eating up your afternoon. No overstimulating waiting rooms. Just expert ABA therapy that fits your family's life.

Insurance coverage for ABA therapy

We accept Medicaid and most major insurances

Most families in North Carolina, Georgia, and Maryland pay little to nothing out of pocket. We're in-network with major Medicaid and commercial plans. We verify your benefits upfront so there are no surprise bills.

A morning with Marcus: Real progress in action

What a session looks like

Marcus struggles with getting ready. Every morning is a 45-minute battle; resistance to clothing, difficulty sequencing steps, frequent meltdowns. His parents dread 7 AM.

A woman during an occupational therapy session
  1. Week 1: Assessment

Our BCBA observes Marcus's morning. They watch what triggers meltdowns (textures, transitions), what he communicates, and what actually works when it does work. They build a plan specific to Marcus's real day.

  2. Week 2–3: First Sessions

Marcus's RBT arrives at 7:30 AM. Instead of chaos, the therapist uses a visual schedule. First wake up, then pick clothes, then eat breakfast. Marcus learns this sequence. He knows what comes next.

Getting dressed is still hard. The therapist breaks it into smaller steps: pick a shirt, put arms through, pull down. When Marcus does a step without prompting, he gets something he actually cares about—not punishment, but reinforcement that matters to him.

Marcus's parents watch. They see what works. Tomorrow morning, they'll use the same approach.

  3. Week 4–6: Progress

Getting dressed that took 45 minutes is now taking 20. Marcus still resists, but he's attempting steps independently. He's using words instead of just screaming. His parents are calmer. Mornings don't end in crisis anymore.

The Point:

This isn't theory. It's Marcus's actual morning, with expert guidance. Skills are learned where they matter. Parents learn alongside the therapist. Progress builds.

Does your child fit?

Signs in-home ABA might help

In-home ABA therapy is evidence-based treatment for autism spectrum disorder. If your child shows several of these, an assessment is worth exploring:

Communication and Social:

Difficulty expressing wants and needs with words (age 2+). Limited response to their name or instructions. Struggles with back-and-forth interaction or eye contact. Difficulty understanding or following routines.

Behavior and Regulation:

Frequent meltdowns or aggression during transitions. Repetitive behaviors or strong resistance to changes. Struggles with sensory experiences (clothing tags, loud sounds, textures). Unsafe behaviors (bolting, climbing, self-injury).

Daily Living:

Struggles with getting dressed, eating, toileting, or sleeping. Needs high levels of prompting for routines. Difficulty with multiple-step instructions.

School or Peer Interaction:

Teacher reports behavioral concerns. Struggles with unstructured time (recess, transitions). Limited peer interaction or play skills.

!

Important: In-home ABA therapy requires a formal autism diagnosis from a qualified medical professional. CDC: Finding an Autism Evaluation.

Trusted by families across NC, GA & MD

“Our daughter was nervous around new people, so we worried therapy wouldn't work. The consistency of having the same therapist every week helped her build trust, and now she actually looks forward to sessions. We've seen huge improvements in communication and transitions, and we're much more confident as parents because we've learned techniques we can use every day.”

- James & Rebecca T. – Atlanta, GA

“I appreciated that Apex ABA never made promises they couldn't keep. They explained every step, handled our insurance, and kept us involved throughout the process. My son's progress has been steady, but the biggest change is that our home feels less stressful. We finally have tools that work.”

- Monica L. – Raleigh, NC

“Our therapist worked with our son during the moments that were actually difficult—mealtime, bedtime, and getting ready for school. Instead of practicing in a clinic, we solved the problems happening in our own home. Six months later, he's communicating more, following routines, and our family life is so much more peaceful.”

- David P. – Columbia, MD

“The parent coaching was just as valuable as the therapy itself. We weren't left wondering what to do between sessions because we learned alongside our therapist. The entire team was responsive, dependable, and genuinely cared about our child's success. We couldn't recommend Apex ABA more highly.”

- Ashley R. – Savannah, GA

“From our very first phone call, everything felt organized and supportive. Apex handled the insurance process, answered every question, and made starting therapy incredibly smooth. Our daughter has become more independent with everyday tasks, and we've seen progress we honestly didn't think was possible a year ago.”

- Kevin & Laura B. – Rockville, MD

“We were exhausted before we found Apex ABA. Every morning felt like a battle, and we weren't sure how to help our son. Having therapy in our home made all the difference because the strategies actually fit our daily routine. Within a couple of months, mornings became calmer, and we finally felt like we had a plan. Our therapist treated our whole family with kindness and respect.”

- Sarah M. – Charlotte, NC

You're the real therapist here

Parent training built in

We're in your home for a few hours. You're with your child all the rest of the time.

That's why parent training is built in. You learn the same approaches our therapists use. How to set your child up for success. How to respond to tough moments. How to keep things moving when we're not there.

We're a joint team working with your child so they can soar to places you never thought were possible.

What we won't say (and why it matters)

How we actually work

"This should be working by now."

Every child is different. If something isn't clicking after a reasonable time, we change our approach, not blame your child.

"You need to be firmer with consequences."

We're not here to make you a drill sergeant. We teach strategies rooted in understanding behavior, not punishment.

"Just give it more time."

Time alone doesn't create progress. Strategic intervention does. If we're not seeing movement, we adjust the plan.

"Your child just isn't motivated."

Every child is motivated by something. Our job is to find what works for yours, not expect them to fit a template.

"We'll work on this in the clinic, and it'll transfer home."

That's backwards. We work in your home because skills need to be learned where they're actually used.

"Parents should observe from another room."

You're not a distraction. You're essential. We want you involved, asking questions, and learning alongside your child.

FAQs

Most children benefit from 10–25 hours weekly. Your BCBA recommends specific hours based on your child's needs and what insurance will authorize.

Yes. Consistency is essential for progress. Your child builds trust with their therapist, and that relationship drives results.

Most parents want to be present, especially initially. You can participate actively, observe quietly, or step away when needed—whatever works for your family.

Our therapists are trained to work with resistant or hesitant children. We start where your child is and build from there. If they need to go slow, we go slow.

Every child is different. Some families notice improvements within weeks. Others take months. But if we're doing our job right, daily life gets easier—mornings calm down, meals improve, bedtime becomes manageable.

North Carolina, Georgia, and Maryland law require Medicaid and most major insurance plans to cover ABA therapy for children with autism diagnoses. We verify your specific benefits upfront.

Life happens. We work with you. Reschedule when you need to.

We track data constantly. If progress stalls, we adjust strategies. We don't keep doing the same thing and hoping for different results.
